Make Your Own Upcycled Denim Bag with Rachel Johnson

‘Denim Upcycling Workshop’ Sunday 28 September, as part of The French Workwear Company pop up at Room 71-73, 71-73 Stoke Newington Church St N16. One two-hour session 2-4pm.
We are pleased to be running this session with Rachel Johnson from Threads Mending.
Join us for a bit of relaxed fun on Sunday afternoon to come and create your own denim bag from old garments – bring your own denim or pick from our samples. Turn your old jeans into one-of-a-king bag. All materials provided. Free entry, but you pay £15 for the bag you make. Fun, creative and sustainable!
Basic to intermediate sewing experience preferred, you will be using denim appropriate sewing material. We provide everything you need.
All welcome. 16+.
Rachel is the creative force behind Threads Mending, a bustling boutique specializing in sewing, repairs, and alterations in Hackney Wick. She also runs sewing, embroidery and upcycling workshops. She has commissions and collaborates with various organsations to uniquely re-use old fabric and turn them into new garments or imaginative objects such as crochet mushroom shaped bags for festivals. Rachel has collaborated with the French Workwear Company many times, mending and customising some pieces, as well as turning old boilder suits in to tote bags.
Rachel‘s workshops are not only about learning a skill, but also about connecting with others and promoting sustainability through mending.
